Each year a $500 scholarship is awarded to a Pickens County high school senior, who applies and is chosen by a selection committee. The money raised from this race helps with the scholarship, awards, medals, and t-shirts for the both the Honor Abe 5k and The Abraham Balawi Mile Run. Funds are deposited in the Abraham Balawi Scholarship fund account and used solely to keep maintain these annual events.
