Trick or Trot Fly5K and 1 Mile Dog Walk

Sat October 28, 2017 North Charleston, SC 29405 US Directions

Place

1049 East Montague Ave
North Charleston, SC US 29405

Description

Flydog Fitness is hosting the first annual Trick or Trot Fly5K to benefit We Are Family.  The race will consist of a 5K walk/run and a 1 Mile Dog Walk with participants from both entered into a costume contest!  What better way to kick off Halloweek than with some exercise and a chance to win awesome prizes?!

Packet pickup will begin at 8am on Ohear Ave next to DIG in the Park where we will have a number of vendors set up for a block party! DJ Trevor will be spinning some awesome tunes to get you ready to run!! The race will begin promptly at 9am.  Since this is a "fun run", and closing down the streets is not a cost affective option for our fundraiser, we encourage all participants to run/walk on the sidewalks and to use caution when approaching and crossing intersections.  We will have volunteers at the intersections for everyones safety, thank you for your cooperation.  Our block party will run until 12 Noon. King bean coffee roasters will be serving up coffee and there will be Award winning Bloody Mary's available for $5 at DIG in the Park featuring Dixie vodka! Several of the surrounding park circle businesses will also have food and drink specials offered all day with proceeds going to We Are Family! More information will be provided on Race day!

The race will begin and end on Ohear Avenue right outside of DIG in the Park with costume contest announcements, awards ceremony and after party to follow at DIG! We can't wait to see you there! Thank you for supporting We are Family by participating in our first annual Trick or Trot!!!!!

We Are Family is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that supports gender and sexual minority youth and straight allies. Adolescence and young adulthood prove difficult for everyone, especially for LGBTQI youth who suffer disproportionately from homelessness, depression, and poor health outcomes resulting from the underlying fear, ignorance, and prejudice they encounter in their homes and communities. We Are Family provides a system of support to validate these young people and instill the confidence they need to grow into well-adjusted and productive members of society.
