We are a nonprofit organization, and all race proceeds are donated to support the following local programs and groups:
SFC Rich Schild Memorial Scholarship – Established in memory of SFC Rich Schild, who was killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom on December 4, 2005. The River Rat Run began in 2009 in Rich’s honor, started by his brother Bruce and other family members. Each year, a scholarship is awarded to one male and one female student at Yankton High School.
Yankton Middle School & Yankton High School Science Olympiad Teams – Helping students compete and excel in science competitions.
Yankton High School Track & Field Team – Supporting young athletes in developing their skills and achieving their goals.
Yankton Senior Center – Assisting programs and services for local seniors.
