About the Leon Berrong Scholarship Fund
This is a Parks & Recreation program and scholarship offered through Maryville, Alcoa, and Blount County Parks & Recreation.
The Leon Berrong Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 to honor Mr. Leon Berrong’s lifelong dedication to youth development and community engagement. This fund was created to ensure that every child—regardless of financial situation—has the opportunity to participate in Parks & Recreation programs.
Whether it’s youth sports, arts and crafts, camps, or other enriching recreational activities, this scholarship helps remove financial barriers so that more children can benefit from structured, healthy, and positive experiences.
Thanks to generous community support and fundraising efforts, the scholarship fund has helped hundreds of local kids build confidence, make friends, and stay active through programs they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to afford.
