Support the Leon Berrong Scholarship Fund
Help a local child discover the power of play, recreation, and community.
When you register for The Pistol Ultra, you have the opportunity to make a difference by supporting the Leon Berrong Scholarship Fund.
Established in 2005, the scholarship fund helps ensure that children facing financial hardship can participate in Maryville-Alcoa-Blount County Parks & Recreation programs. By reducing the cost of participation, the program makes it possible for more children to enjoy the many physical, social, and educational benefits of recreation.
Scholarships are available to qualifying families, including those who provide documentation of:
Free or reduced-price school lunch
Income meeting scholarship eligibility guidelines
SNAP benefits
Government housing assistance
Foster family status
Eligible children receive up to three Parks & Recreation programs each year at 50% off, opening the door to opportunities such as youth sports, summer camps, aquatics, arts and crafts, fitness, and other enriching recreational activities.
These programs help children stay active, build confidence, develop friendships, learn teamwork, and create lasting memories in a safe and positive environment.
As runners, we know the impact that sports, recreation, and supportive communities can have on a person's life. Your donation—no matter the amount—helps provide those same opportunities to children in the community that welcomes The Pistol Ultra each year.
Thank you for helping us give every child the chance to play, learn, and thrive. Together, we're making a lasting difference—one runner and one child at a time.
