Our mission: to encourage collaboration between established Veteran organizations, support groups & individuals who have the desire to support Vet causes.
The goal: A wreath on each headstone in our three Veteran cemeteries in Knox County.
There is no Federal or State funding for this effort, it is a strictly a grass-roots project. You can help with a donation of $15 per wreath.
Wreaths will be placed on the headstones at our 3 Veteran cemeteries as well as Arlington National Cemetery and other Veteran cemeteries across the USA as well as overseas on National Wreaths Across America Day, Saturday, December 14th at Noon. While coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies is a big part of what we do, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out throughout the year.
The three Knox County cemeteries have well over 17,000 Veterans interred.
- The East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Gov. John Sevier Highway
- The East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Lyons View Pike
- Knoxville National Cemetery on Tyson Street
It is said, “A person dies twice: once when they take their last breath... and again later: when their name is never again spoken out loud”
That is why after placing the wreath on the headstone, we stand and take a step back, and say the Veterans name out loud.
