FAMILY REUNIFICATION
In 2020, there were 9021 children in CPS custody in the DFW area. There were 3457 exits from the system, but only 1078 were family reunifications. We are partnering with CPS and CASA to help mothers get to a place where they are able to provide a stable and healthy environment for their families.
PEER MENTORING
Our Parent Peer Mentoring program consists of our clients being paired with a mother who has previous experience with CPS, incarceration, domestic violence, addiction, homelessness and mental health and has overcome the barriers and now wishes to help other mothers reunite with their families and build a better life. By sharing their own experiences, peer advocates help our clients to see and change behavioral patterns and keep them accountable. The benefits to being a peer advocate are that they are developing leadership skills, enhanced responsibilities, building on communication skills and establishing connections within the community.
CAREER GUIDANCE & EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT
With a number of our clients only having a 9thgrade education, or relying heavily on public assistance, we are able to instill new goals into their life plan. We helped them get their GED and find jobs that they can look at as careers and help them to reach their goal of getting off of public assistance and becoming economically stable.
