Our Primary Mission Behind This Race is to Support The Houston Food Bank

 

Help us to achieve our goal of raising $1,000 to support a food bank that services one the largest geographical areas in the country. The Houston Food Bank feeds approximately 800,000 people annually and distributes over 104,000,000 meals annually to residents in 18 counties in the Southeast Texas area.

 

Food is essential during these times. Each $1 donated helps provide 3 meals! All donations submitted through the race website or to the organization's website go directly to them. Please note that the Houston Food Bank is a 501(c)3 organization meaning your donations are tax deductible! (More information can be found on their website)

 

In addition to your individual donations, 10% of ALL race sales will also go to benefit the organization. Whether you sign up for the race or not, you can still donate directly to the organization by clicking the donate button at the top of your screen or clicking the link below:

Description

 

The year 2020 has been met with many challenges. To do our part, we've decided to host a virtual race not only to get people encouraged to work towards overall health during this time of quarantine, but to also support organizations that are essential to helping us get through this challenging time. 

 

Donations to the Houston Food Bank

10% of all race sales will go directly to the Houston Food Bank to support the organization's operations. If you don't want to sign up for the race, we still encourage you to donate what you can to the organization (click the donate button at the top). Our goal is to raise $1,000 in donations, not including the portion raised from ticket sales. 

Race Options

There's a free race option and a paid race option. The free race allows you to participate, join the Mint Health & Wellness Active Facebook Group and post your results to our leader board. The paid option allows you to receive the race swag bundle which includes a race bib, t-shirt and a race medal (for lifetime bragging rights and pictures). 

Never done a virtual race? Here's how it works:

  1. Register by clicking the sign up button 
  2. Run/walk/bike your 5k (3.1 miles), 10k (6.2 miles)  or 1 miler by July 31st 2020 at your socially responsible location whether on the treadmill, in your neighborhood on a local tract or trail. Please note that the race is not restricted to any geographical area. It can be completed anywhere you are!
  3. Upload your finish time at Runsignup.com 
  4. Celebrate your accomplishment
  5. (Optional) Post your time and/or a picture of you finishing your race on the Event Facebook Group

For those that sign up for the paid races: Race swag (t-shirts, medals & bibs) will start shipping once registration ends. Our goal is to get your race swag to you before the race begins. You can complete your race anytime between now and July 31st....before or after receiving your race swag! (More details on shipping in the Race Swag section)

  2. 50/50 Cotton/Polyester Athletic Race T-shirt w/ Race Logo and MintHW design on back (it's stretchy and comfy to wear!)
  3. 2 3/4" Die Cast Race Medal 

Shipments will begin approximately 2 weeks before the race start date and we will continue to ship daily after until we're officially sold out. United States Postal Service (USPS) takes an average of one to three days for First-Class Mail to arrive at its destination after we've shipped the package, barring any weather/misc delays. If we happen to enter a backorder time period after our initial sell out, we’ll keep you updated right here and during your registration process (none as of right now). Remember, you can still complete your event anytime between the race start date and July 31st...before or after receiving your race packet!!!

HOW TO TRACK YOUR RUN/WALK/BIKE

There are several free apps that you can download on your phone, whether you have an Android, iPhone or other phone. If your phone doesn't have a fitness tracker app, you may also use a fitness tracker like a Fitbit or a smart watch. Here's a few compatible apps that we recommend:

ABOUT MINT HEALTH & WELLNESS

Mint Health & Wellness was formed by Nicholas "Coach Nick" Monette in 2017. Nick began his fitness journey like most at the age of 4-5 when his parents signed him up for little league. Through high school and college he played sports and followed his passion for fitness and well-being to acquire a Masters degree in Science Kinesiology & Fitness Human Performance.
