Finish Strong 5K

On September 25, 2018, David Grant Voeller, our son, brother, husband, father, and friend left this world behind and entered the glorious gates of heaven.

As the first anniversary of David’s death comes upon us, we have decided to remember this time by doing a 5k race in his honor.

David had a genuine care and concern for hurting families and we will be donating all funds received through this event to SAMMinistries that supports families in crisis.

On September 21st, at 8:30am, the race will begin and end at Paul Davis Park. We thought it would be fitting to run this race in the city where David put down roots and lived a fulfilling, joyful life.

A little known fact - David was not an avid runner but actually ran two marathons in his early twenties - showing his desire to always challenge himself mentally, physically, and spiritually. We chose the name #FinishStrong as a testimony to David’s life. No truer statement could be uttered than,

“David finished strong.”

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2

We want this race to be a festive, celebratory event. Immediately after the race, we will have breakfast, music, games, and more! We are planning a very memorable, exciting day to be enjoyed by the whole family! Please bring your strollers so that all the kids can enjoy the run. Leashed pets are also welcome!

This event IS open to the public. Our goal is to celebrate David’s life and memory, as well as raise as much as we can for charity. Please tell your running friends about this event!
