Trek 4 Change Virtual 5K Trail Race

Welcome! Thank you for participating in the Trek 4 Change virtual trail run and walk 5k! This race is put on by the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine - Virginia Wilderness Medicine club to benefit and celebrate Soul Trak Outdoors. Soul Trak Outdoors is a D.C. based nonprofit working to increase diversity and create leadership opportunities for minorities in the outdoors.
From Soul Trak's Website: The National Park Service (NPS) turned 100 years old in 2016. Yet, while African Americans make up 13% of the national population, only about 7% of park visitors were black. Latinos, Native Americans, and other non-white visitors are similarly underrepresented. The rest—some 78%—are white. Soul Trak is actively working to change these disproportionate statistics. We are directly engaging disenfranchised members of our communities; we believe that all people of color everyone regardless of background, economic status, age, or gender should be exposed to outdoor spaces, recreational pass times, and educational tools.
All proceeds and donations from the race will go to Soul Trak to support their mission.

The race will be held virtually over a 4-day period, where participants submit their time card as they complete their chosen activity. The race will begin Friday November 6th and end on Monday November 9th, and participants can begin submitting times from midnight on 11/6 until 11:59pm on 11/9. Participants registered before October 20th will receive a free race t-shirt (limited supply, so sign up early!). Don't forget to share your selfies from the trail using #V5Ktrek4change
