PIH Engage is a nonprofit organization working to promote global health equity, as part of the larger organization Partners in Health. This year our fundraising campaign is to raise money for global tuberculosis treatment. As most of you know, Tuberculosis is a curable disease, and we have had this cure for decades. However, only 2 in 5 people with multidrug resistant tuberculosis get the treatment they need, and 1.3 million people die of tuberculosis each year, with 80% of these deaths being in low and middle income countries. Tuberculosis is a social justice issue, and you can help PIH Engage support bringing the right to healthcare to these patients who need it. You can read more about PIH’s Tuberculosis programming here: https://www.pih.org/programs/tuberculosis.
This year our PIH Engage chapter's goal is to raise $4000 toward this cause, and we cannot do it without your support. While all our proceeds from the 5k, minus the processing fee, will be going toward this cause, we invite those who are not registering to run or anyone who wishes to donate more to donate on this page. If you would like information on our tax deductible eligibility as part of a nonprofit, please email Mackenzie at mgd4nf@virginia.edu.
We appreciate any and all forms of generosity, and are excited you are joining the fight for global health equity!
