Donate toward PIH Engage's Tuberculosis Campaign

PIH Engage is a nonprofit organization working to promote global health equity, as part of the larger organization Partners in Health. This year our fundraising campaign is to raise money for tuberculosis treatment in Sierra Leone. Tuberculosis is a curable disease, and we have had this cure for decades. However, only 2 in 5 people with multidrug resistant tuberculosis get the treatment they need, and 1.3 million people die of tuberculosis each year, with 80% of these deaths being in low and middle income countries. Sierra Leone has been particularly affected, as their health infrastructure has been ravaged by a history of colonialism and exploitation. In Sierra Leone, Partners in Health partners with the government to oversee Lakka government hospital, the first dedicated multi drug resisistant TB treatment center in the country. Tuberculosis is a social justice issue, and you can help PIH Engage support bringing the right to healthcare to these patients who need it. You can read more about PIH’s Tuberculosis programming here: https://www.pih.org/programs/tuberculosis.

This year our PIH Engage chapter's goal is to raise $4500 toward this cause, and we cannot do it without your support. While all our proceeds from the 5k, minus the processing fee, will be going toward this cause, we invite those who are not registering to run or anyone who wishes to donate more to donate on this page.  If you would like information on our tax deductible eligibility as part of a nonprofit, please email Mackenzie at mgd4nf@virginia.edu

We appreciate any and all forms of generosity, and are excited you are joining the fight for global health equity!
