Lloyd Family Farms Fall 5k Run and Walk

Come and enjoy the rolling acres of Lloyd Family Farms at our 5K event on Saturday, November 18, 2017. This year the race will benefit Dr. Denise Gorondy's Recovery Fund. Dr. Denise Gorondy (Toderico), DVM is an equine veterinarian, wife and mother of two boys. She graduated from Virginia Tech and the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. When Denise was not providing expert veterinarian care to horses in the community, she could be found spending time with her family or actively training for running races, triathlons, or to stay in shape for herself and her boys.

Tragically, on June 5, 2016, Denise was out in the early morning hours on a Sunday morning getting in a run before anyone was up when she was struck from behind by an SUV that crossed the double yellow line and then fled after striking her. In the fashion of the warrior that she is, Denise clung to life for over an hour before being discovered and flown by helicopter to VCU Medical Center. Denise's miraculous survival transitioned into inspiring recovery after spending 40 days in the hospital. Her recovery and healing is ongoing, but recovery has intersected with thriving as she continues to inspire and amaze. Overcoming all odds, Denise is running again and will be participating in the race this year.

Packet pickup and on site registration begins at 8:00 AM on Saturday, November 18. The race will start promptly at 10:00 AM and will be professionally timed by the good people at Commonwealth Timing (Commonwealthtiming.net).

There will be age group awards in 10 year intervals and also awards for the top 3 finishers. We should have enough t-shirts for all participants, but t-shirts are only guaranteed for those entered by November 7th (we have ordered many t-shirts, so unless we get a huge influx of new entries there should be a t-shirt for you). Snacks will be available before and after the race. For safety and insurance purposes, strollers are not permitted in the race. Please leave dogs at home, we are dog lovers, but cannot allow them on the farm due to insurance reasons.
