5K For A Better Day

Donation Goal: $600

Help Us Raise for Washington Student Cancer Awareness Association & Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center!

The Vision:

A community where students can actively and confidently run activities to raise funds for others in their lives affected by cancer. Proceeds from this event go towards Fred Hutch and our future events!

The Mission:

Fred Hutch's vision is the elimination of cancer and related diseases as causes of human suffering and death through prevention and curative treatments accessible to all patients.

Washington Student Cancer Awareness' (WASCAA) goal is to act as an dynamic and open platform to get students involved at a grassroots level. Students help initiate events and fundraise for organizations such as Fred Hutch through efforts such as this 5K.

The Values:

Fred Hutch's Values
Scientific Excellence — Fred Hutch's first commitment is to excellence in scientific work. We have a high standard of ethics and integrity in conducting our research.

Integrity — Integrity infuses everything we do, from conducting research to operating a world-class organization. It is central to the way we govern the organization, develop our staff and steward donor funds.

Respect — We respect the contributions that each individual makes to ensure the success of our science. We honor the contribution of patients and study participants to our mission and commit to the highest standards of care, integrity and confidentiality in our services to them. We respect individuality and recognize the strength that comes from diversity of perspectives and backgrounds.

Openness — We recognize the importance of sharing information and allowing for the free exchange of ideas between staff throughout the Center regardless of position or affiliation with outside interests. We strive to have decisions made by those closest to the issue, acknowledging the value of first-hand experience.

Innovation — We recognize the importance of creativity and responsible risk-taking. We aim to minimize bureaucracy and maintain focus on the mission. Our systems and policies support scientific achievement.

Washington Student Cancer Awareness Association's Values
Student-Led - WASCAA is a student-led organization that consists of the collective contributions of various Inglemoor High School students. As the organization continues to expand, we hope to get as many students involved.

Local - In each of our monthly meetings, we discuss ways that WASCAA can create opportunities, events, and partnerships with the local community to continually support cancer awareness and fundraising.

Community Oriented - Through numerous acts of service and volunteering,  our WASCAA team is fundamentally community oriented. We are aware of the presence of cancer in almost all communities and we simply want to do our part.
