Silver Star is made up entirely of volunteers, we have no paid staff members and are on call 24 hours a day. Silver Star has served the public for over 50 years and we will continue to expand and adapt as the changing times dictate. We have a diverse membership; we welcome team-minded individuals as applicants.
Currently Silver Star Search and Rescue has four teams:
1)Wilderness Search and Rescue: Our Field Responders support the County Sheriff's searches. covering miles of wilderness while looking for missing hikers, climbers, hunters, or mushroom and berry pickers who have been reported overdue and are potentially lost or injured. This function is fondly known as "ground pounding".
2)Urban Search and Rescue: Our Field Responders also support City Police or County Sheriff's searches for lost children, those with cognitive difficulties, and other at-risk individuals.
3)Crime Scene Search and Evidence Discovery: At the request of local Police or County Sheriff's Department, our Field Responders assist in location of objects or subjects that are missing at a crime scene.
4)Base Support- We also provide command center support capabilities during search activities, both day and night in all weather situations. We have a bus that is a SAR base, with advanced tracking and communication capabilities
