Yakima Mile and Legends Casino are running domestic violence out of Yakima!
Rosalie Fish ran 12 miles at the Yakima Mile on July 2nd, giving her all to the run in support of survivors of domestic violence. If you made a pledge donation, please multiply the amount you donated by 12 to complete your donation towards Miles Against violence and YWCA Yakima by clicking here.
Miles Against Violence pledge run was ran by the internationally respected athlete and activist, Rosalie Fish, on July 2nd at the Downtown Yakima Mile. 100% of the money raised goes to YWCA Yakima and their life-saving services such as their 24-hour domestic violence emergency shelter, crisis hotline, affordable housing aid, legal advocacy, and more. Fish ran the Miles Against Violence pledge run on July 2nd to “demonstrate that every single one of us can make an impact in ending domestic violence” and you can too.
Fish runs with a red handprint across her face, fingers stretching across her cheeks, to honor and raise awareness for the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, People and Two-Spirit. Fish began running at the sound of the starting gun fired for the first heat of the Yakima Mile at 6:10 PM. Then, continuing to run miles up and down Yakima Ave. until approximately 2 hours later, when she will cross the finish line one last time, joined by the kids and elite runners for the final 1/4 mile race. The struggle to run this distance speaks to the pain and suffering of the many people at school, at work, and all-around who suffer in silence.
Running is inherently beautiful and powerful, but as Fish describes, “running becomes all the more beautiful when we run for each other.” You are invited to make a difference by donating to Miles Against Violence!
