3/6/12 Hour Challenge
Are you up for the challenge? The goal is simple, complete as many laps as possible in the designated time window!
Rules:
- Complete as many full laps as you can in the designated time.
- You must cross the start line for a full lap to count.
- You can dropout at any point during the race and your score will be based on total laps completed in the time category you started the race in.
- You can only drop categories at check-in.
- Notify checkpoint volunteers of your number when finishing a lap.
- Placing is based on total completed laps. If multiple participants complete the same number of laps, placing will be based on the clock time of the final completed lap.
- No pacers, crewing, or providing aid on course.
- If the course is not followed and is to the advantage of the participant, this will result in a void lap. Multiple occurrences will result in a DNF.
Team rules-are the same as above plus:
- Every team member must complete a minimum of 1 lap before the designated time.
- The team order and number of laps is up to you.
- Exchanges must take place at the checkpoint table.
Aid:
- There will be one aid station at the checkpoint area of each loop.
- Hydration
- Skratch Labs
- Water
- Soda
- Nutrition
- Gels, chews, waffles, salt tabs
- Food
- Gummies, cookies, granola bars, chips, pretzels, pickles, twizzlers, PB&J, fruit, etc...
- Hydration
- This is a CUPLESS event.
- Portable restrooms are available at the start/checkpoint area as well as 2 out on course.
- Blackhawk Ski Patrol will be providing medical support.
Crewing/Team Tents & Drop Bags:
- There is a designated spot for individual crew and team tents to set up.
- All team registrations automatically have a tent space reserved.
- Individual participants must choose a tent space as an add-on at registration.
- First come first served.
- There is a drop bag tent within the checkpoint area if you do not reserve a tent space. Space within the 10x20' tent is first come first served.
- Pacers are not allowed on course and no support is allowed outside of designated crewing area.
**Driftless Endurance and Blackhawk Ski Club are not responsible for lost or stolen items. We recommend not brining valuables if you do not have someone to monitor your items or a way to secure them.**
Awards:
- Individual: Top overall male, female and non-binary athlete in the 3, 6 and 12 hour time category
- Team: Top overall team (regardless of size or gender makeup) in the 3, 6 and 12 hour time category
- Each team member will receive an award.
- Best Dressed Team & Best Team Name will be judged diplomatically by the band
Course:
- Distance: 2.15 mile looped
- Elevation:~365 ft of total ascent per loop.
- Terrain: 60/40 mix of single tracks and grass paths
- Hills: 2 major climbs per loop.
- One major climb with a 20%+ grade
- One gradual climb up switchbacks
