The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Kids Marathon is an innovative five month endurance building running/walking program for K-5th graders. In order to participate in the event each child will run a total of 25.2 miles in increments of one-quarter to one mile from September to February. Each student will run in PE class (if their school participates as group), and/or with their parent(s) and will keep a log sheet to track his/her progress. Mileage is based on adult supervision and the honor system. The children will complete their final mile of the marathon on Saturday, February 22, 2025. To be eligible to run the last mile of the marathon on race day, each child must log 25.2 miles. As each child completes the final distance and crosses the official finish line, they will receive a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Kids Marathon finisher’s medal. There are no official winners. Our motto is “if you had fun you won!”. Your child must run on Saturday February 22, 2025 on the official course to receive his or her medal.
