Run for the Kids 5K
The yearly route generally starts at the Village on the Creeks event stage in Rogers, Arkansas. Each run will start with a loop around the lake at Village on the Creeks and then will continue onto the (paved) Regional Greenway trail system. The 5K will have a turnaround point near the Mercy Trailhead, and the 10K will have a turnaround point at the top of the hill just past the Greens on Blossom Way. Both runs will finish at the Village on the Creeks event stage.
This year's event aims to raise funds to provide assistance to two non-profit organizations benefiting children on the local and national level.
1. Backyard Orphans. They train Church leaders to develop a foster care, adoption, and support ministry. These ministries will partner with local and state child welfare organizations to build a pipeline of volunteers, foster parents and families ready to adopt.
2. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need.
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
James 1:27 (NIV)
