Set within the calm, protected waters of Glorietta Bay beneath the iconic Coronado Bridge, this distance provides the perfect introduction to open water swimming in a supportive and welcoming race environment.

Whether you’re building confidence for longer distances, transitioning from pool swimming to open water, or simply looking for a fun and achievable race day challenge, the ½ Mile Open Water Swim offers an exciting opportunity to experience the energy of race day without committing to the full 1-Mile distance.

This division welcomes swimmers of all experience levels and is ideal for younger athletes, novice open water swimmers, and recreational participants alike.

The 1-Mile Open Water Swim serves as the featured main event of the Crown City Open Water Swim, offering athletes an exciting open water experience through the calm waters of beautiful Glorietta Bay in Coronado, California.

Set against the backdrop of the iconic Coronado Bridge, swimmers will navigate a protected bay course designed to be approachable for first-time open water participants while still delivering a rewarding challenge for experienced competitors.

Participants will compete in staggered wave starts based on division, creating a smooth and safe race experience for all athletes.
