44th Annual Imogene Pass Run

Sat September 9, 2017 Telluride, CO 81435 US Directions

Event: 17.1 miles from Ouray to Telluride

An extremely difficult race for well prepared athletes. Strict cuttoff times will be enforced. No transfers or refunds for any reason. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST SHOW A VALID PICTURE ID TO CHECK IN. THIS ID MUST MATCH THE REGISTRATION INFORMATION PROVIDED.

DIFFICULT COURSE AND POSSIBLE INCLEMENT WEATHER: Imogene Pass is exceptionally beautiful, even by Colorado standards. Because of the mountainous setting and seasonal timing, hostile weather is a very real possibility on race day. The course description and history speak to the difficulty of the endeavor. Participants may encounter subfreezing temperatures, winds, rain, snow and fog; the possibility of injury and/or hypothermia must be emphasized. While mountain rescue teams, EMTs and other assistance may be provided, PARTICIPANTS BEAR THE ULTIMATE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY AND RISK.
TRAIN yourself to negotiate very steep, rocky and possibly icy, snow-covered ascents and descents. PREPARE yourself to contend with hostile weather conditions - in threatening weather the race will STRONGLY SUGGEST that participants have a jacket, gloves and hat to proceed over the summit. Improperly prepared participants may be turned back at the Upper Camp Bird Checkpoint.

RACE ATTIRE: All participants SHOULD have a jacket, gloves and hat at the start line; and in threatening weather will be checked at Upper Camp Bird before proceeding to the summit. Improperly prepared participants may be turned back at the Upper Camp Bird Checkpoint, regardless of cutoff time limitations.

MANDATORY CUTOFF and other course time limits: The cutoff time at the Upper Camp Bird aid station (7.5 miles) is 10:00 AM. All participants who have not reached this station in the allotted time of 2.5 hrs., will be required to turn back to Ouray. The summit qualifying time is 12:00 PM, participants arriving late will have their bib marked DQ (disqualified) and may be requested to sag to finish. Official timing at the finish line in Telluride will cease at 2:30 PM. The cutoff time is for the safety of both the participants and the volunteers, and to allow time for the race results calculation before 1:30 PM.

RACE CANCELLATION OR COURSE ADJUSTMENTS: The IPR has never been cancelled. Due to extreme weather conditions the possibility exists. Every effort will be made to hold the race, but the director reserves the right to delay, adjusts cutoff time, shorten or even cancel the event to provide for the safety of participants and volunteers. If hostile weather conditions develop after the start of the race, the road above Upper Camp Bird may be closed by the Ouray County Sheriff and all competitors will be required to turn back to Ouray. It so, no finish line timing will be provided. There will be no refunds in the event of race cancellation or course adjustments.

BEHAVIORAL POLICY: Participants who exhibit unruly, obnoxious or uncooperative behavior will be disqualified and denied future entry into the IPR.
IPR REGISTRATION: Entry is by PRE-REGISTRATION ONLY. Race registration will be closed upon reaching the limit of 1600. Accepted entries will be emailed a waiver with an assigned bib number. You should also check this website for your name on the confirmation list if uncertain.
