Our 5k distance is a timed event. Finishers completing the entire course are eligible for awards whether they run or walk. Your finish time is used.

WHY WE ARE HERE...
Groundwork Bridgeport (Groundwork) is a community based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to bring about the sustained regeneration, improvement, and management of the physical environment, by empowering people, businesses, and organizations to promote environmental, economic, and social well-being.

Since its inception in 1998, Groundwork’s main goal has been to convert blighted areas into gardens, parks, playgrounds, and other open spaces that instill pride in the community. To accomplish these goals, the organization develops education, community service, and other programming as a means of improving the quality of life for those it serves. Groundwork’s programs primarily serve and impact populations that are marginalized and lacking readily accessible resources.

This one mile distance is NOT timed. Finishers are not eligible for awards but do receive everything that the 5k participants get.

JEROME ORCUTT YOUTH CLUB

Description
Youth development organization offers social, educational and recreational programs for children and youth ages 7 through 18. Club programs emphasize learning activities, character and leadership development, substance abuse education/prevention, homework assistance and tutoring, and fitness, sports and recreational activities. Special programs such as Project Learn teach leadership skills, support academic success, and promote healthy lifestyle choices. Family Support Program helps improve relationships between children and their families.

This event is limited to 9 year olds and under ONLY. Adults/parents/guardians can accompany their kids to avoid any potential drama. No awards but there will be finisher ribbons.
