Healing Illinois 1 Mile at a Time Virtual Walk
1. Where can I walk? Anywhere you like. We encourage social distancing with those outside of your household while participating in the walk. You can walk inside on a treadmill, outside your home, or around your neighborhood. If you would like to map out your own one-mile course, gmap-pedometer.com is a great resource to help map a course anywhere.
2. When does the walk start? Saturday 1/2/21 at 11am.
3. Is there a “post walk” event? Yes! After the one-mile walk, starting at 11:30am on 1/2/21 will be hosting a mindful breathing practice and walk recap. Join on Facebook Live through the event Facebook page.
4. Who is putting on this event? New Day Employment Network in Joliet IL has received a grant #healingillinois which seeks to bring racial healing to BIPOC communities. Our mission is to shine a light on how stress affects those dealing with racial tension and to highlight how exercise and other healthy practices can be used as part of a healthy daily regime to manage that stress.
5. Is there a packet pickup? No, the first 50 registrants for the walk will receive a “swag bag” in the mail. This will be mailed out after the walk.
6. What is the cost of this event? The walk is free to all participants.
