Gobble Gobble Run or Wobble 5k

Sat November 21, 2015 Oak Lawn, IL 60453 US Directions

Event: 5k Run

The Ladies Guild is hosting our 2nd Annual 5K Gobble, Gobble, Run or Wobble Turkey Trot on November 21 at 9 am, and we need your help. You can SPONSOR and / or WALK -RUN.

Proceeds from this event will be dedicated to the purchase of Chrome Books for our St. Linus students in order to better equip them for the future of technology. We are also excited to include a portion of the proceeds again this year in Emily Beazley’s memory to support her family’s Demand for a Cure chapter at Cure It Foundation, which funds pediatric cancer research.

We value our local vendors, small businesses, and corporate donors. Your contributions help us build our community and financially support our children’s educations. We promise to commit ourselves toward building a working relationship with our sponsors, offering them exposure to an audience of nearly 1000 participants. Last year, in our first ever 5K event we had over 622 participants of all ages, many of which were seasoned runners, and we were able to raise $10,000 toward our mission to provide a much needed technology infrastructure for our school. In 2014 we also contributed $1,000 to support the Beazley family and Emily’s 4 year-long fight against pediatric cancer. Last May Emily lost her battle, but she lives on in our hearts and minds. For this reason we have dedicated another 10% of the proceeds in 2015 for her family’s pediatric cancer charity. Emily was a bright light in our community and we want to honor her memory. Runners will find our course adorned with Emily’s favorite two colors, purple and green, colors that have become a symbol in our neighborhood for the fight against pediatric cancer.

Our 5K is a community event that is very affordable for families, with a $30 entrance fee per person. This is what makes our event a highly attended one. Just like last year we will be awarding medals to the best times in various age and gender categories. We will also have an after party for our participants. For the second year in a row our school’s P.E. teacher is running, and he’s promised a free dress down day for any St. Linus Student that can beat his time.
