Event: Sponsor a Compass for Kids Student
Don't want to run yourself but still want to help? Sponsor a Compass for Kids student! For $30 you can sponsor a student in District 186's Compass for Kids Program to run in the race. Afterwards you will receive a personalized thank you letter from your student!
Compass for Kids is a free program for Springfield District 186 students underserved by our community. Students in grades K – 5 are referred by their schools for the program, which focuses on closing the academic and opportunity gap through academic support and enrichment activities. APL participates in Club Compass, the after-school program and Camp Compass, the summer program. With the help of APL shelter ambassador dogs, volunteers present lessons bridging social-emotional learning with humane education. Students learn about animal care and explore feelings from a shelter pet’s point of view.
Sponsorships for students will provide:
- Event T-shirt
- Button/badge with a picture of the shelter dog they’re walking to support
- Race swag bag including humane education materials
- Participation medal
