We Are Roady Fun Run
You are signing up for the The Roady Fun Run. The Roady's meet on Tuesdays at 6:00 between the Shadyside playground and the 3 "U" sculptures off Alexandria Pike in Anderson, Indiana.
April 30 will be our First Roady Ribbon night.
This is a 12 week free program provided by the Anderson Road Runners to families in our community. You do not need to be a member of the Anderson Road Runners Club to participate in the Roady Fun Runs, we welcome you if you do.
There are 2 divisions to choose from; a short or long course. The short course is 1/4 mile or 440 yards and is called the Bridges Run. The long course is the 1 Mile Lake course around the north lake at Shadyside. Both courses are a paved trail that is mostly shaded.
Parents and are welcome to join their child. Volunteers can help you decide which course your child is ready for. Generally 5 years and up do the mile, although some 3 & 4 year olds can conquer the mile too. We ask that you choose your distance and stick with it for the season. This helps us with scoring.
We have official clocks and timers and keep track of the children's times each week. The children earn a finishers ribbon with the color of their placement each week. They truly enjoy the recognition of their efforts regardless of their placement. We encourage the children to run their best time each week to earn an extra "Personal Record" ribbon in addition to their age-group ribbon. PR Ribbons will be calculated after your child has completed their 3rd run.
Each week a child attends they earn a ticket for the drawing for a free bike at the end of the season. To be eligible for the bike drawing, you must be present to win. We give away one bike for girls, and one bike for boys for the Bridges run and the 1 mile run for a total of 4 bikes. A drawing to win the bikes occurs at the end of the season celebration and you MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN!
We have a sign-up sheet for parents to bring individually wrapped snacks each week. Parents need to bring a water bottle for their child.
Several of the area High School Cross Country members are graduates of the Roady's and are State Qualifiers in the IHSAA! We love seeing them run and volunteer with the young children to set a good example of giving back to our community. This is also a perfect way to gain volunteer experience for College Applications and an Anderson Road Runner Club Scholarship Opportunity. We believe children are our future. Volunteers are what makes our community great! And you can make a difference.
Our motto is: Live to Run, Run to Live, Run for Fun!
