Rock The Park

Event: Trail Run (includes access to evening Muisc Festival)

Run starts at 9:00 am

Parking fee of $5 can be paid during registration or at the gate.

Registration/package pick up starts at 7:30 am. Preregistration is recommended. Thank you! Please bring photo ID for package pick up. “Day of” registration is $30.00.

Registration is at Shelter Two.

Race starts just northwest of Shelter Two.

Run is approximately 4 miles on well maintained multiple use trails. Terrain is moderately steep.

Awards given for top 5 per gender.

All runners can submit bib tags at end of run to go into prize raffle.

Running participants get access to free camping and evening events.

Awards will be presented 6 pm during the early evening functions. Participants must be present to claim awards.

Fruit and drinks will be supplied as after race refreshments.

Event: Guided Hike

JCPR will be hosting three free guided trail hikes.

There is a $5.00 parking fee which allows you in and out of the park all day.

All hikes to start out of Shelter Two.

Crosley/Tunnel Mill: Primarily flat, parallels river then visits Crosley and the historic Tunnel Mill area. Approximate distance is 4 miles. Out and back.

Vernon (unconfirmed): Short steep trail then flat hike along river to Historic Vernon and the Vernon Commons. Out and Back, roughly 3 miles.(MP blue trail is alternative)

Green Trail: Level loop around forested perimeter of Muscatatuck Park interior. Trail is approximately 2.8 miles.


Hikes are free, but donations will be accepted!

Event: Bouldering Competition (includes access to evening Music Festival)

Bouldering Competition and Rock Climbing Expose’

Friday functions: Boulder problem review 7 pm to 9 pm

Competition will be limited to first 100 climbers. “Day of” registration will only be available if 100 climber limit is not achieved by August 14th @ 10 pm. “Day of” registration is $30.00.

Parking fee of $5 can be paid during registration or at the gate.

100 boulder problems itemized, with additional projects noted as incentive.

There will be an additional 20 V0’s available for beginners.

What category should I enter into? What is your hardest boulder problem?” (multiple attempts):
Beginner: V3 and under
Intermediate: V4 to V6
Advanced: V7 or harder

How is the competition going to be graded?

Grading/points:
Intermediate/Advanced: (V grade * V grade) V3=9, V4=16, V8=64, etc
Beginner: same as I/A, but add 5 points to problems so (V0=5, V1=6, V2=9, V3=14, V4=21, etc)
Add 10 points to a flash, all categories.
Highball; add up to 10 points for listed highballs (most are 5 additional points).
FA add 50 points. (estimated grade plus bonus)
Second Ascent 25 points

Endurance Champion will be graded by number of problems completed regardless of grades.

Cash Prizes: Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three per category per gender. Only one male and female endurance champion will be awarded. Award scale provided on www.muscatatuckpark.com.

Dyno Competition: 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm (or until everyone gets their chance to climb)

All Climbers who participated in the climbing competition are eligible to participate free in the evening dyno competition. Each competitor will get one attempt per Dyno route. There will be three dyno routes. Each hold will be graded. Each climber will total all three routes for overall score. Finals route will be used only if needed in case of ties. There is a cash award for the top male and female dyno climber.

All climbers will have to register (pick up package) at Shelter Two before 11 am. Pads can be dropped off at the Vinegar Mill before registration to avoid having to hike them in. Climbers will not be able to park at Vinegar Mill, so short hike of 10 minutes will get you bouldering area.

The unofficial grading sheet for the competition and area map are provided on www.muscatatuckpark.com. Certain problems may change due to conditions, but the final list will be very similar.

JCPR may incorporate the following into the climbing expose for spectators (not part of competition):
Tyrolean traverse
Rappelling class
Slack Lines

Event: Evening Concert

Evening Concert featuring "Sounds of Summer" a Beach Boys tribute band.

Warm Up Band: "The Empty Glass Prophets"

Parking fee of $5.00 can be paid during registration or at the gate.

Day of registration fee increases to $20.00. Children under 10 years old get in free.

Event: Camping

JCPR will be granting free camping to individuals who purchase tickets for any of the flowing: Trail Run, Bouldering Competition, Evening Concert.

Camping is free for both Friday and Saturday night.

Campers are required to set up in the primitive field in campground. Tents must be tagged (green band)

Regular RV camp sites are available and will be charged normal prices. Sites are blocked off so registration for an electric site must be done over the phone at 812-346-2953 or by email reservationsmp@frontier.com.

Event: Friday Free Concert

JCPR will be giving a tour of the bouldering area, roughly 7 to 9pm.

Shortly after there will be a free concert at Shelter two by "The ROTN4". Parking fees apply. Camping is free to event registered (run, climb, Saturday concert) individuals.

Tour of "Illusions" also free (waiver must be signed at site).
