TREK XXIV
TREK was began by Mr. David Yewell, a long-time friend of the Mission and someone who has been with St. Joseph Peace Mission since its inception. Mr. Yewell started this 13-mile journey (a.k.a "TREK") on foot and alone, to celebrate and give thanks for another year of good health. He was joined by some friends after a few years of doing this on his own, and as more friends became involved the group decided that TREK was too good to keep to themselves, so it was decided to turn it into an event for a worthy charity. Beginning on September 27, 1996, St. Joseph Peace Mission for Children was the chosen non-profit charity. TREK is a friendly, non-competitive family event open to all ages where participants can choose to run, walk, or bike a 13-mile course.
