Save a Stray 5K
Join us and bring your friends, family, and pup for a run for their lives on a beautiful August day in Maine!
WHERE
The Save a Stray 5K is a timed event starting at 23 Depot Street in downtown Freeport.
WHEN
Saturday, August 24, 2024. Check-in begins at 6:30 a.m. at 23 Depot Street. The race begins at 8:00 a.m.
REGISTRATION
Online Registration will be available until 7:30am on Saturday, August 24th. Please note that the price of day-of registration increases from $35 to $40.
Starting at 6:30am on August 24th, we will also be registering participants near the starting line at 23 Depot Street in downtown Freeport. The price of day-of registration is $40.
THE ROUTE
The 5k route begins and ends in Downtown Freeport, and the exact route can be seen on our website (saveastray.midcoasthumane.org).
PRIZES
L.L.Bean gift cards will be awarded to the top male and female finisher in each age group.
The age groups will be:
-10 years old and Under -40 to 49 years old
-11 to 19 years old -50 to 59 years old
-20 to 29 years old -60 to 69 years old
-30 to 39 years old -70+ years old
The top overall male and female finishers will receive extra special prizes!
PACKET PICK UP
Early packet pick-up will be available on Friday, August 23 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the BEAN BOOT on the L.L.Bean campus. We will also accept additional race registrations at that time.
You can also pick your runner packet up on the day of the race (Saturday, August 24) starting at 6:30 a.m. at 23 Depot Street in downtown Freeport.
TIMING
We ask that all participants who do not have a time goal to please start the race towards the middle/rear of the pack. Dogs are welcome to run, walk, or hitch a ride in a stroller along next to you!
RESULTS
Results will be posted at the event and listed on the Save a Stray webpage the day of the race.

Save a Stray Walk
Walk the mile to show support for shelter animals! The walk is a more leisurely physical endeavor than the 5K run, and it is perfect to do with friends if you'd like to chat, and of course, walk with your dogs.

The Save a Stray One-Mile Walk kicks off at 57 Main Street, next to L.L.Bean’s Bike, Boat and Ski store in Freeport. You can find the exact route on our website (saveastray.midcoasthumane.org).
