This hilly route takes you on a 5K (3.14 mile) run to “Sam’s Tree” in the arboretum. Dedicated with love by Sam’s college friends, this tree sits right by the Huron River with a plaque that reads, “In Honor of Samantha “Sam” Woll (1983-2023) who will always be remembered for her tireless activism and passion to make the world a better place.” Please download the kamoot app for accurate navigation as this route takes you through trails in the arboretum which are not shown on google maps.
This route takes you on a 1 mile loop around Burn’s Park. Sam’s dedication to running a mile everyday, come rain or shine, not only bestowed upon her physical benefits, but also reliably uplifted her mental health–a routine she deeply valued.
One of Sam's favorite pastimes was being an aunt to her neice and nephews. She even used to run alongside them during fun runs. So, kids, prepare for an awesome event in memory of Aunt Sam!
If you are not able to make it in person, you are still invited to participate virtually. T-shirts will be mailed in advance so you can run in your "instepwithsam" swag. Be sure to send us a picture when you finish!
