FoH Veteran's Day Virtual Run

Physical Training (PT) is as ingrained into a service member, as eating is to you and I. From the moment they take their first baby steps into service, they learn to grow themselves into a physical specimen. As to, can your youngster in their own right. When registered, your child will receive a list of standards that those women and men adhere to strictly. Admire your child, as he or she puts forth that necessary effort to complete the physical fitness standards that our men and women in uniform abide by each and every day. Don’t worry, there will be no Drill Sergeant sent along to bark out “Drop down and give me twenty!” After they’ve pushed themselves to prove their muscular fitness, they’ve only got one more step to completion. Well maybe a quite a few steps, as they embark on the 1.5 mile run. America’s troops do this to test their cardiovascular health. Your child will do this to earn that medal that you’ve kept secretly in your pocket. How proud they’ll be to wear their medal, just has their heroes do on their uniform! You could even compete against a friend half way around the world. From climbs over majestic mountain passes to blissful Sunday beach cruises, truly great cycling routes can be found in all 50 states and many foreign countries, from Maine to Hawaii, and even more places around the world. After all, we have troops stationed everywhere, and vacation spots as well. Make plans to ride in as many places as you can. How can you beat a ride that could, near effortlessly, cruise through the most beautiful and scenic paths? Take to the pedals and support our family of troops all in one swoop. Here's to hoping that you don't stop at just 20 miles. Yes UCan! Just like many service women and men have heard when facing a daunting physical and/or mental challenge, “Yes UCan” is yowled from the mouths of their supervisory chain of command. And so we echo that cry, to you who take the challenge of undertaking the UCan TRiathlon. Take a deep breath, jump into the 750 meter swim. That Sailor would be proud. Then done your helmet (quick, like a Soldier throwing on a gas mask) cause you’re off on the bike portion. Close your eyes for a moment and take in that refreshing breeze that is rushing across your skin (like the rushing air those Airmen are flying through) during this 18 mile bike ride. Lastly, stretch those legs out, ‘cause you’re on the home stretch. A 10k run is a great way to build your endurance (or so our Marine friends tell us), and a wonderful way to finish this confidence-building triathlon. Now take a deep breath once more, as you hang that medal around your neck.
