Naked Mountain Triathlon

Sun May 21, 2017 Albemarle, NC 28001 US Directions

Event: Naked Mountain Triathlon (individual)

Packet pickup will be held at the park office from 8am to 5pm on Friday May 19 and Saturday May 20. Packets may also be picked up Sunday May 21st from 6am to 7:30am at the packet pick up station beside the boathouse.

You must bring all of your own gear including a life jacket for the boat race. Life jackets must be worn during the boat race. Boats must be powered by human power and not motors or peddles. Use of a canoe or kayak paddle is expected. SUP boards can also enter the race, but they will be much slower than other boats. Sup racers will not have a separate class and they will also need to wear a life jacket.

Helmets must be worn during the road bike race.

And all racers must be clothed (the mountain was naked in 1884, not the racers in 2017).

There will be a pre race safety meeting race morning at the stage in front of the boathouse at 7:30am. This meeting is mandatory and will inform all racers of hazards on the course.

The main gate will open at 6am giving you an hour and a half to drop off your boat at the boat ramp parking area, and stage your bike and running gear at the boathouse parking lot in the staging area. Your bib number will be posted at you designated bike space. You will then need to drive to the lower picnic area and park. There will be 15 passenger vans to shuttle you to and from the parking area to the race start. They will also be around at the end to shuttle you back. We will only have 3 vans, so plan ahead and be early.

If you are camping in the athletes village group camp, feel free to park at your campsite and walk back to the race start area.
Start Time: 8:00am EDT
End Time: 12:00pm EDT
