Thunderbird Summit Challenge

The 1 Mile Fun Run is on a mostly paved, even road surface. This event is a fun run/walk and will not be timed.

Only about a third of this run will be on a flat even surface, about two thirds will be run on a dirt trail that may be uneven in some locations up to the base of Mt. Cristo Rey, which is the turn around point for this event. There will be a water station and volunteers and an aid station at the turnaround point. The top three finishers in each age and gender category will receive a medal. The top overall top finisher for men and women will each receive a trophy.

This event is a trail race until the participant reaches the entrance into the "mountain area" of Mt Cristo Rey, at that point the participant is to hike up to the summit of the mountain on the trail and return to the base of the mountain where the race will resume. Only participants that are in excellent health and conditioning should attempt to do this event. This race will offer a split time at the top of the mountain. There will be 3 water stations headed up the trail, which will also be available on the way back down . An aid station will be at the base of the mountain. This event will have security and volunteers all along the mountain trail. The top three finishers in each age and gender category will receive a medal. The top overall top finisher for men and women will each receive a trophy.
