Port Jervis Stone Challenge (Suggested donation of $25 - collected day of event)
Parking/Registration/Sign-In/and all that jazz:
• Event is RAIN, SNOW OR SHINE at Elks-Brox Memorial Park
• Registration will take place at the campground (aka PJ Stone Challenge Village)
• Registration/Sign-in is between 7am to 8:30am
o Registration/Sign-in closes PROMPTLY at 8:30am. DON'T BE LATE!
o If you show up after 8:30am, you have to carry your rock down the hill too!
• Parking: there will be folks there to direct you where to park
• Arrive, park your car, sign-in at the village
• At registration/sign-in, you'll have your rock weighed and receive your race bib
• Suggested donations-cash/cc/venmo/paypal: (to benefit the Outdoor Club of Port Jervis)
o $25 gets you a race bib and a sticker
o $40 gets you a race bib, a sticker AND a super cool PJ Stone Challenge T-Shirt!
• At the village, we'll have music, water, snacks, hot cocoa and a warm fire to keep you toasty
• Burn the Ships CrossFit will be on hand with some fun physical challenges and several chances to win a membership and other prizes
• If you see any of the guys and gals from The Shop Tattoo, say thank you! This crazy idea came from their noggins.
• Everyone has a chance to win! During closing ceremonies, The Shop Tattoo will have gift certificates and other goodies that all racers will be entered to win
Race Info & Rules:
• Don't forget to DECORATE YOUR STONE! You'll have to pick your stone out of a line up of 100+ others. You surely want to have it stand out so it's easy to find!
• Junior Racers (12 and under) must be accompanied by an adult during the race. The adult does not need to carry their own stone and CANNOT carry the racer's stone.
• All racers MUST carry a stone.
• Stones must be carried using your body only! (No straps, cables, bags, nets, etc.) That's why it’s a challenge!
• Minimum stone weight is 5 lbs.
• Race starts at 9am
• At the finish line, a volunteer will record your time on your bib. DON'T MISS THEM!
• Once you catch your breath, go to the race table to hand in your bib to register your stone weight and time
• When all have finished, we celebrate! Closing ceremonies will be at approximately 10:30am
• Three medals will be awarded in each category (Juniors, Women, Men)
o Fastest finish
o Heaviest stone (racer must finish)
o Overall: Heaviest AND fastest combination (Don't worry, we have an algorithm)
