Rules and Guidelines to Follow:
- No warm-ups will be provided (if you need to warm up you may do push-ups)
- Simply check-in and await your turn on the bench press
- Participants will start with the bar in an extended position and a lift-off assistance will be given if needed
- The weight bar MUST touch the chest and then be fully extended on each press (otherwise, the rep will not count)
- No bouncing bar off the chest
- Shoulders and rear must stay in contact with the bench while you are performing the lift
- If you stop during the press you are done (you may stop while having the bar in a lock-out position)
- No belts, wraps, or gloves will be provided. You are free to bring your own
- Judging by race officials is final and there are no exceptions
Participants must weigh in on scale on the day of the event wearing shorts, t-shirt and socks. Event representative will calculate the amount to be bench-pressed and the lifting weight will be rounded to the nearest five pounds. Only full bench presses are counted (see below).
Males and females will get a 30 second deduction from their 5K race time for each time they can bench press a percentage of their body weight according to the chart.
Male:
39& under 100%
40-49 90%
50-59 80%
60-69 70%
70 & over 60%
Female:
39& under 70%
40 - 49 60%
50 - 59 50%
60 & over 40%
Minimum lift is 45 lbs
