About the Seminar: Have you ever wondered why your clients behave the way they do? In this seminar we will explore the characteristics of the four generations that make up today's society. Additionally, we will examine what motivates each generation. We will explore the historical events that shaped each generation's behavior. We will also discuss how understanding the behavioral characteristics in each generation could help the client/counselor relationship and subsequently aid in making better counseling outcomes. Finally, we will delve into the characteristics of Generation Z, the "New Generation". Participants will leave this seminar with a better understanding of the various generational traits.

About the Seminar: Internet Use Disorder, like substance use disorders, involve behaviors, which become compulsive, out of control, and are continued despite the negative consequences. Internet Use Disorder, much like substance addictions, is the habitual drive to continue an action even to the detriment of health and happiness. Individuals with Internet Use Disorder continue to repeat actions that are harmful to them and to the happiness of those around them, often losing relationships, impacting school, employment and overall health and wellness in the process.

About the Seminar: The impact of domestic violence on the physical and mental health of clients is so significant, it needs to be studied and understood by clinicians and others at all levels of interaction. Whether working with children, adults, the elderly, drug and alcohol abusers, or clients experiencing health or legal issues, the brunt of domestic violence may be behind many of the presenting problems. This workshop will address the aftermath of aggression and violent behavior from people known intimately by the victim. Statistics and other known facts will be presented as well as information on accessing resources. This course will also present information on strategies for helping clients stay safe.

About the Seminar: Mood disorders are among the most common mental illness presented to clinicians. Differentiating between unipolar or bipolar depression could be challenging, especially in the presence of comorbid mental illness or substance use. Treatment options are varied and complex at times. And about 20 percent of patients do not adequately respond or achieve remission and become treatment resistant. Difficult to treat mood disorder and treatment resistance could prolong patient suffering, frustration among providers, and increase risk for suicide. This seminar aims to shed light on the complexity of the diagnosis, differential diagnosis, risk factors and treatment options available for treatment resistant depression.

About the Seminar: The most widely accepted etiology of mental illness is the neurotransmitter theory. However, with only about 50% of patients responding to traditional psychiatric medications, an integrative approach to mental health treatment is increasingly becoming more desirable and effective.
