Virtual Freedom 5K - Make Freedom Viral

Event: Home 5K Mode

In the event that you are unable to run, walk, hike or bike outside all participants are encouraged try the alternative Home 5k mode. Whether it is to avoid the covid-19 virus or simply because you like to do your exercise at home, we encourage you to be part of this event. Participate in something that brings you that sense of freedom while helping others to experience freedom by breaking the chains of addiction. Please find the following alternative equipment/exercises that are available to you as a way of completing the 3.1 mile (5k) event throughout the week.

CHOOSE ONE:
1. Treadmill/Air-Fan Bike– 3.1 mile distance.

2. Jump Rope– 4,000 jump ropes.

3. Bike/Stationary Bike/Peloton/Spin Bike- Run distance multiplied by 3. Example: a 3.1 mile (5K) run would be a 15K ride (9.3 miles).

4. Stair Climb/Step Machine/Step Ups– 4,000 steps.  

5. Swim- A 3.1 mile (5k) run would be a (5100 m) swim.

6. Bear Crawl- Run distance divided by 3. Example: a 3.1 mile (5K) run would be a 1 mi (1600 m) crawl.

Event: Street 5K Mode

Another fine way to take advantage of outdoor living in Chattanooga is to explore its miles and miles of greenways and river park trails. With the expanse of walkways, greenways and parks, the ways to complete the 3.1 mile (5k) is limitless. Simply walk, run or bike these different types of street terrains in our area. Participate in something that brings you that sense of freedom while helping others to experience freedom by breaking the chains of addiction. Event: Mountain 5K Mode

If Signal and Lookout Mountains are the crown of Chattanooga outdoors, then their view from atop is the jewel. In the Mountain 5k Mode participants are to select a favorite trail and simply complete the 3.1 mile (5k) trek via hiking or biking. Participate in something that brings you that sense of freedom while helping others to experience freedom by breaking the chains of addiction. Event: Warrior 5K Mode

Warrior mode would run our 5k 3.1 miles and then complete the additional obstacles:
10 push-ups 10 tuck jumps
10 decline push-ups 10 jumping jacks
10 hand-release push-ups 10 air squats
10 burpees 10-second iso-squat
10-second plank 10 single-leg squats (per side)
10 plank up-downs 10 forward lunges (per side)
10 plank shoulder taps (per side) 10 backward lunges (per side)
10 mountain climbers (per side) 10 glute bridge raises
10 knee slap mountain climbers (per side)
10 double leg calf raises
10 dips 10-second 6-inch leg hold

Note: These additional obstacles can be completed at any time throughout the week of the event, as long as they are completed. This means that you can choose to do them all at the beginning or end, spread them out throughout the workout, or any other combination. Most of all have fun!!!
