This event is for a bit more experienced runners and those, who would like to go a little further but are not sure how far they can go. Timed events are perfect for that since a runner is not "chasing" a distance but rather going against time. Runners can finish their run anytime during those 6 hours, even though we'd like to see them go all the way till the end.
Runners will run the 5K course and will notify a loop recorder each time they return to the start/finish line. The race is over when last lap is completed anytime before 2 pm.
If toward the end (between 1pm and 1:30pm) you do not have time to complete the entire 5K loop, you will be allowed to do the Kids Fun Run Loop (1.25 mile), but not more than two.
There will be a designated area at the start/finish area for the runners to set up picnic chairs, drop bags, coolers and other needed gear.
Runners can keep going or take breaks between loops; that's up to each one of them.
This is NOT a typical 5K course that you may encounter at most urban races in our area. Almost the entire course (99%) is on gravel roads and single trails. It offers challenging 200+ feet of elevation gain, lots of roots, rocks, leaves, fallen trees, and stream crossings etc. There is also a lot of wildlife: from deer and foxes, encounter with which may not be so probable during the Festival hours, to snakes and ticks, which won't necessarily hide, depending on the weather and temperature.
Course will be marked with marking paint and, where necessary with additional signs and streamers.

This event is a "half" version of the 6-hour run and it is for those, who are still a bit intimidated with an idea of running 6 hours straight and don't want to "quit" in the middle of the race. Signing up for this option may be a little less scary.

This run, which is approximately a mile long (1.25 mile), is for the youngest. If they can walk they are eligible. They may be accompanied by an adult but that's not mandatory. There will be people at crucial turn points to direct the runners. The course, which is basically a loop, consists of gravel road, fire road, grassy hill and has some exposed roots, loose rocks and gravel, and leaves. There are couple of downhills and consequently uphills (1/3 of the course) and the rest is pretty much flat. It may be a nice challenge for the young ones.
We hope to see many children to take a part at this kids fun run with their parents, grandparents, siblings, friends or alone. Each finisher will receive a prize.

Runners will run four (4) loops on the 5K course and will notify a loop recorder each time they will cross start/finish line. After the fourth completed 5K loop they will head out on the the Kids Fun Run course of 1.25 miles, which will bring total to just a "little" over 13.1 miles.
There will be aid station at the start/finish area, where the runners will be able to refresh after each loop (water, energy drink, PB&Js, fruits etc.)
The course will be opened for 3 hours, i.e. till 2 pm. Runners must complete all four 5K loops by 1:45 pm in order to continue with the last portion (1.25 mile) of the run.
