2023 Open Door Café Stuffed Strut 5k Run Walk or Roll A-thon

FOR SERIOUS AND CASUAL RUNNERS 10 AND UP - CHIP TIMED

The Stuffed Strut begins at 8 am on Thanksgiving morning in downtown Wytheville, at the new Open Door Café. The route is a relatively flat paved course around downtown Wytheville. November mornings in our climate zone can be frigid. Please dress accordingly.

Parking is available at the Café, next door at the HOPE Ministry Center, and across Main Street in a church parking lot. On-site registration opens at 6:45 am. We will serve warm refreshments immediately after the run's conclusion, in time to get everyone home for a big Thanksgiving lunch.

1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in several age and mobility categories will receive recognition.

FOR CHILDREN UNDER 10

The 1 mile Fun Strut is a dedicated route for kids that begins between 8:45 and 9:00 am so as not to overlap with the main event. Children watching their parents/guardians run can participate after the race, or and adult runner can join their child for a cool-down walk.

Kids under 5 register for free. Children 5-9 register for $10 and raise funds for two café meals ($16).

FOR SERIOUS / CASUAL RUNNERS TO COMPLETE A 1K RELAY LEG

Rally friends and compete as a 3-person coed relay team! Ideal for runners that want to compete at a shorter distance. Chip timed, awards given.

FOR AREA MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS

Middle and high school cross country runners are invited to join and race free! Create a five member, coed school team or join with friendly rivals from another school. Chip timed, awards for top three finishing teams. Additional award divisions may be added based on demand.

The Strut Your Way 5K Challenge is a free progressive training challenge for in person and virtual runners alike. Join in addition to or in place of your 5k "main event." The training challenge is designed to help runners select a customized training program aligned to your individual fitness level and goals.

We encourage you, guide you in selecting 4, 6, or 8 week training programs, and celebrate you along the way to your 5K finish line. Every step of the way you have support as you reach each Milestone in this progressive 5K. As you complete each Milestone you add electronic badges to your Stuffed Strut profile. You’ll be able to:

-Receive exclusive tips and videos
-Share pics of your accomplishments and see others
-Receive encouragement from Strut Challenge teammates
-Collect per/mile or per/milestone pledges to end hunger

FOR ACTIVE SUPPORTERS WHO ARE OUT OF TOWN OR WANT TO PARTICIPATE VIRTUALLY

Run, walk, or roll 3.1 miles anytime from November 1 - 30th, anywhere of your choice. Join our zero hunger Stuffed Strut A-Thon. Compete as an individual or create a team to raise funds for at least 10 Open Door Café meals.
