Is my registration or donation tax-deductible?
Father Joe's Villages is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your registration is tax-deductible minus the value of the items received ($8 per registration). All donations are fully tax-dedutible. To claim a part of your registration as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. For questions, or duplicate copies of this receipt, please contact us at 5K@neighbor.org or by phone at 619-446-2133.
Am I required to fundraise?
While fundraising is optional, your support in fundraising for the 5K helps Father Joe's Villages serve over 900,000 meals annually for our neighbors in need. We can't do it without you! In addition, there are many fun incentives and benefits to fundraising including free merch, exclusive 5K hoodies and long sleeves, express check-in, and VIP Parking!
Are dogs allowed?
Yes! Dogs are welcome. You do not need to register your dog, but you are welcome to purchase a pet bandanna on this page. We ask that if you have a dog, you participate in the Fun Runner race, in order to ensure the safety of timed runners.
Will my children receive free or reduced pricing?
We welcome children 5 and under to join us for free (please note, medals and shirts are not included for these ages). Youth ages 6-13 will receive age-based pricing, which is applied at check-out.
Are strollers allowed?
Yes! We are a family friendly event and invite all ages to join. We ask that if you have a stroller, you participate in the Fun Runner race in order to ensure the safety of timed racers.
Are bikes/scooters allowed?
Bikes and scooters are not permitted to ensure the safety of all participants.
Where should I park?
You are welcome to park in any Balboa Park parking lot or side streets that are not impacted by the road closures. Please view a map and list of road closures here.
Is there ADA parking?
You are welcome to park in any ADA parking spot that is not affected by road closures. If you have an ADA placard or license plate, you can park in the Organ Pavilion Lot by showing your placard or plate. Please view a map and list of road closures here.
What accommodations are available for participants who need assistance during the race?
We are committed to making our 5K race accessible to all participants. If you require any assistance or accommodations, such as a guide runner for the visually impaired or other support, please contact us at 5K@neighbor.org. We will work with you to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable race experience.
What happens if it's raining?
Our Thanksgiving Day 5K will happen rain or shine, please prepare accordingly to your comfort needs.
Where is the Start Line & Finish Line? Where is the course route?
The Start line will be at 6th & Laurel and the Finish will be between the San Diego History Museum and the San Diego Junior Theater. Our post-race festival is held in Plaza de Panama. Please see the race day layout, including course route, here.
How do I volunteer?

How do I get my shirt and bib? Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
There will be TWO options for you to check-in and pick-up your race shirt on the week of the race. Anyone may check-in and pick-up on behalf of another member of your team, family, or friends.

What is the refund policy?
We do not offer refunds for any reason; your registration fee will be considered a tax-deductible donation to our organization. If you made a mistake during registration or have any questions, please contact us at 5K@neighbor.org or 619-446-2133. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at the event!
