***UPDATE FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 23**
THANK YOU to everyone who has registered and donated to our 8th Annual (and 1st 100% Virtual!) Run From The Rays! At this time, REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. You all have made this unusual time memorable and meaningful, and for that we are truly appreciative. Sunday morning, starting at 6:50am, we will be on our Facebook page with our Virtual Run Start. Please plan on joining us! More updates tomorrow, but once again THANK YOU ALL!
***UPDATE FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 18***
We just wanted to give an update to let you know that all of the race t-shirts and awesome medals were sent Priority Mail by the USPS on Friday, April 17, so be on the lookout for them. Some people have already received their package, though we were told at the post office that there could be delays even for Priority Mail, so please be a little patient . Don't forget to post your photo on the SafeSun/Run From The Rays Facebook page with the hashtag #SelfieForSafeSun, or email it to email@example.com, in order to be eligible for the $10 Starbucks gift card (donated by Drs. Nachlas and Hancock of The Nose and Sinus Institute of Boca Raton) and also the $10 Runner's Edge gift card (donated by Tom Vladimir at Runners Edge). These will be mailed out the week of April 27, but you must post your photo by 8pm on Sunday, April 26th! We have around 30 spots left for registration at this time for a guaranteed medal and t-shirt. Once again, a huge THANK YOU for your dedication and support of SafeSun's mission! If the park re-opens this week for limited use then we will post the map of the run course, but until then........
Stay Healthy. Stay Safe. See everyone on the road soon!
***UPDATE FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 10***
Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to the start of another stay-at-home weekend! Just a few updates for today..I'll start off by saying that you do NOT need to send PROOF that you actually run/walk your 5K or 1 Mile, as there is no official timing or awards. Since the park is closed at this time, we won't be posting the course map because no one is allowed to run in the park. 'Where' and 'When' you choose to do your run/walk is up to you. Make sure you watch out for traffic, and stay safe! As stated in the March 13 update, if you post a photo on SafeSun/Run From The Rays Facebook page (or email one) during your run/walk, then we will send you your extra incentives from Runner's Edge and Nose and Sinus Institute of Boca Raton.. PACKETS are being assembled, and we are waiting on our medals, so as soon as they arrive they will be put into the packets. Also, if you wanted to change from the 5K to 1 Mile, or the other way around, that is perfectly fine--whatever distance you decide to do is up to you! The swag is the same for both :) We are getting closer to the 250 limit for t-shirts and medals, and appreciate every single one of you! THANK YOU!
***UPDATE FOR APRIL 3, 2020***
Hello to our Run From The Rays and We Run Boca Community. We just wanted to give another update for our Virtual Event. We are extremely grateful to all of you for the support you've shown us. The last update on March 13 let all of you know that Run From The Rays had become a 100% Virtual event. At that time, we were cancelled by the City because of Governor DeSantis' "no mass gatherings" order. Since that time, we've seen event after event, parks, pools, beaches, etc., closed due to the crisis. Thankfully, the weather has been beautiful, and I've seen more of our community trying to get in a little outdoor exercise and fresh air than ever before. We've even put one of our free (touchless!) sunscreen dispensers on our sidewalk daily to remind everyone to stay safe in the sun, while staying healthy and being " Safer At Home." For right now, ALL of you are Virtual Participants, whether your status is changed to "Virtual" or not on your registration page. The original plan was to do a Curbside Packet Pick-Up at Runner's Edge during the regular packet pick up week. As of NOW, we will be mailing the medal/t-shirt to you. If you can take a minute and make sure that your address is correct on your registration that would be helpful! If a miracle happens in the next couple of weeks, and we can do a packet pick up at Runner's Edge, we will let you know. We'll send another update on April 16th. Thank you all so much. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay home.
