Honorary Judicial Chair - The Honorable Luis Delgado
The South Palm Beach County Bar Association is honored to have The Honorable Luis Delgado as the Honorary Judicial Chair of the Second Annual Race for the Brave 5K to benefit Palm Beach County Legal Aid Society's Veteran's Advocacy Project. Judge Delgado was born in Lima, Peru. His family left Peru when he was a young child as a result of the violent political turmoil. Judge Delgado spent much of his childhood in West Palm Beach and upon graduation from high school he attended the University of Florida where he earned dual degrees - a Bachelors of Science in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. While at the University, Judge Delgado served as a reservist for the United States Marine Corp. and thereafter served three years of active duty. Judge Delgado began classes at the University of Florida College of Law in the fall of 2004. However, his studies were interrupted as he was summoned to active duty overseas. In recognition of his courageous actions and his dedication to duty, Judge Delgado was awarded a "combat distinguishing device" by the United States Armed Forces; a tremendous honor celebrating his heroism and valor in combat. Judge Delgado was Honorably Discharged from the United States Marine Corp in 2007.While pursuing his law career, Judge Delgado dedicated time to serve as President of the Hispanic Bar Association and the Palm Beach County Bar, Young Lawyers Section. In addition, he sat on the Board of Governors Young Lawyers Division for the Florida Bar.
Ultimately, Judge Delgado opened his own firm, Delgado Law, and practiced criminal defense until his life-changing decision to run for a judicial seat. Judge Delgado was elected to the circuit court of Palm Beach County in November 2016. Judge Delgado currently serves in the Family Division at the South County Courthouse. He is highly respected by the legal community as well as the community as a whole. He wears his robe with honor and humility. The South Palm Beach County Bar Association is honored to have Judge Delgado as the Honorary Judicial Chair of the 2nd Annual Run for the Brave to benefit Palm Beach County Legal Aid Society's Veteran's Advocacy Project.
