HURRICANE MILTON UPDATE
The City of Cocoa took a direct from Category 1 Hurricane Milton, and though not as bad as some areas they did suffer significant damage that will hinder our course on Sunday, November 3rd at the Riverfront Tri @ Cocoa.
The Game On! team was up in Cocoa last week to meet with City officials and ride the entire course.
Due to submerged and otherwise debris from sunken boats in the water caused by the storm, the City of Cocoa will not allow us to swim as planned in the Indian River. Consequently, we must cancel the swim portion of our event. : ( They expect the storm debris on and along the roadways to be cleared prior to race day allowing us to conduct the bike and running portions safely.
This event will be treated the way we would treat a cancelled swim at any other triathlon. Triathletes and Aquabike racers will be staged at a designated location and run (time trial: 2 athletes every 15 seconds) to the transition area to grab their bikes before beginning the bike portion of the race. USAT will recognize this as a triathlon and you will receive your ranking accordingly.
Duathletes will begin as usual with a 1 mile run. The duathlon race remains unchanged.
Triathletes: If you prefer to run the 1 mile prior to your bike portion, please login to your www.RunSignUp.com account, click on your profile, manage your registration, and transfer to the duathlon. There will be no charge for the change unless you are upgrading to the longer distance.
Something for everyone!
