Our Space Man 5k date coincides with the week of the 56th Anniversary of the Apollo 1 tragedy during which astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee perished while training for their upcoming mission.
Grissom was the second American in space, White was the first American to walk in space and Chaffee was preparing for his first space flight. The 3rd Annual Space Man 5k is an out and back course held in historic Cocoa Village and entirely along the beautiful Indian River Lagoon. The race coincides with the Space Coast Triathlon and is limited to 200 total entrants.
All Space Man 5k entrants receive a race logo-branded tech shirt and race bib and an awesome race logo finisher's medal + post-race amenities.
Proceeds from each Space Man 5k entry fee will be donated to the Astronauts Memorial Foundation in honor of the Apollo 1 astronauts.
