Volusia County Schools Trails to Success 5k

The Volusia County Schools' VCS Trails to Success 5K will be an out and back course on the paved Spring-to-Spring trail of Gemini Springs Park. You will enjoy shade from moss-draped oaks, while taking in pine woods, palm hammocks and possible sightings of wildlife, along the race route. 

The morning & events will include a race T-shirt to the first 400 registrants, swag, and a Gemini Springs themed Finisher Medal to the first 400 finishers!! All of this, combined with music, light food, an award ceremony and the opportunity to explore the park, promises to be a morning of fun! Walkers are welcome!

Proceeds from the race will go to offset the costs of the event. Come spend the morning with friends, family or co-workers; promote good health, friendship, camaraderie and the thrill of participating together, and supporting VCS employee health and wellness.

Schedule of Events

Packet Pick-Up and In-Person Registration:

• Pre-race packet pick-up and in-person registration- Friday, October 13th from 5 PM to 7 PM- DeLand Administrative Complex- Board Room- 200 North Clara Ave., DeLand, FL 32720.

• Race Day- Runners may pick-up their packet on the morning of the race, Sunday, October 15th, from 7 AM until 7:45 AM at the“Oak Tree Area”/Race Zone of the park, see map here: Gemini Springs Park 

• There will be no race day registration (online registration and pre-race packet pick-up are highly encouraged).

• VCS Employees must bring their VCS issued ID to packet pick-up or in-person registration.

Awards Ceremony: 9:30 AM
AWARDS  AWARDS IN FOLLOWING CATEGORIES: OVERALL, MASTERS, GRAND MASTERS AND THE TOP THREE FINISHERS IN 16 CATEGORIES FOR MALE AND 16 CATEGORIES FOR FEMALE.

***VCS Employee Schools/Departments will receive wellness funds for the top five teams with the highest participation for their school/department. To make team participation awards equitable we will be using a percentage of VCS Team participation, as some schools/areas are larger than others. Awards will be: 1st place: $450, 2nd: $350, 3rd: $250, 4th: $150, 5th: $100. This will be our 2nd 2023-2024 Volusia County Schools Employee Team Challenge event for VCS schools or areas competing to win the Silver Traveling Cup!*** If taking part in a team for the 5k, please make sure to select your team when registering. 

If a VCS Team tie occurs, we will do a tiebreaker of the top five highest placing walkers/runners on those teams.

Timing & Scoring    The race will be professionally scored and timed at the start and finish by Hasselmania Productions LLC. The race will be timed using disposable, electronic tags attached to the bib number.  Please wear your bib number to the front, pinned at all four corners, visible, and unaltered.  Results will be posted at the race and then online immediately following the race at  www.RaceSmith.com

Parking: There will be designated parking just beyond the race start/zone. You will see signs directing you to the parking. 

This is not a USATF certified course, mileage is measured as accurate as possible.
