My Story
Description
“Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit.” – Wilma Rudolph
My name is Michael Londoño, and I am 33 years old. At the age of 11, I lost my vision due to a poorly performed surgery that damaged my optic nerve, leaving me blind to this day. At 13, I began practicing swimming, and by 14, I was part of the Colombian youth pre-selection team, excelling in national events and winning medals. By 16, I had joined the Colombian national team for para-swimming.
In 2014, I transitioned to triathlon, and in 2015, I became the first champion of the Americas in this sport. In 2018, I achieved my best international ranking, placing eighth in the world in the Paralympic sprint triathlon event.
In 2021, my son Thomas was born, giving me the privilege of being not only a triathlete and physiotherapist but also a proud father. Since last year, I have been working towards participating in the 2028 Paralympic Games and competing in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. This event is crucial for gathering the necessary resources to compete and start my qualification process. Your participation and donations will help us reach the funding needed to begin the competition calendar.
