Team Eglin -- Air Force Assistance Fund Lazy Triathlon

I would like to thank you for your interest in this FREE race!

This year The Air Force Assistance Fund annual campaign has been hit hard due to COVID restrictions.  Instead of our usual face to face campaign where our key workers visit each work center to talk about how the four charities support Air Force personnel both past and present, we had to rely on an email only campaign amidst various communication difficulties.  We are now back for another round!  To kick off the July 13-24  Air Force Assistance Fund Lightning Strike Campaign, we will be holding a virtual Lazy Triathlon!  Lazy, because you will have 12 days to complete all events!  All Team Eglin personnel, family, and friends age 18 and older are welcome.

Starting on 13 July thru 24 July, you will have 12 days to complete an Olympic Triathlon -OR- Adventure Triathlon!

• Olympic Triathlon
  • .93 mi Swim (~66 lengths in standard 25 yd long pool)
  • 24.8 mi Bike (40 km)
  • 6.2 mi Run (10 km)

• Adventure Triathlon (no pool required)
  • 5 mi Paddle (paddleboard, canoe, kayak, etc.)
  • 24.8 mi Bike (40 km) (Road rides are fine, but trail rides are preferred)
    6.2 mi Run (10 km) (Road runs are fine, but trail runs are preferred)

You may complete the three events in any order, and you may complete the three events at your own pace.  If you would like to, you can complete all events back to back, or you can spread everything out over the 12 day period.

Due to the current base posture and restrictions from COVID, the Eglin pool is closed, and it is unclear if it will be open by 13 July, which is why we have added the Adventure Triathlon option.  This way, if you do or do not have access to a pool to swim laps, you may participate in the Adventure Triathlon.  In addition, if you lack the equipment needed to complete either triathlon, Eglin Outdoor Rec is a great place to rent equipment.

As a thank you for supporting the Team Eglin AFAF campaign, THE FIRST 50 FINISHERS WILL RECEIVED A FREE RACE T-SHIRT!!!  Particular sizes are limited and will be distributed based on when you submit proof that you have completed all three events.  If you are in the top 50, you will receive an email detailing where/when to pick up your shirt.
