Join us for the 3rd annual Wagging Tails on the Trails 5K Race at Pepper Park Riverside in Fort Pierce on Hutchinson Island!
February 7, 2026 race starts at 7:30 a.m. This 5K loop is a flat hard packed trail that winds through mangroves and beautiful hammocks along the Indian River Lagoon.
Registration Includes:
- T-shirt
- Finisher Medal
- 5k Run/walk entry
- Chip timed race bib
- Finish line treats for fur babies
This race is very dog friendly! Feel free to bring your leashed, four-legged running buddy to enjoy the trail with you. All dogs to cross the finish line receive a treat! Water bowls available at the water station and around the expo area. Please clean up after your pets and come prepared with poop bags. Pets must be friendly and non-aggressive to other dogs or people. Dogs must be leashed at ALL times.
Going old school option available with no medal or t-shirt.
Puppy Dash for kids 10 and under. A short fast race that will take place around 8:45. Kids will receive a yummy cupcake when they cross the finish line.
Proceeds
All proceeds are going to the St. Lucie County Sheriffs Department K9 unit.

Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers in each category:
19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-75, 75-80, 80+
Top K9 finisher receives a special prize.

The Trail
This trail follows a path through mangrove swamps and beautiful hammocks along the Indian River Lagoon. This is a very popular area for fishing and birdwatching. There are several piers along the way to simply enjoy the surroundings. Easy walk along a wide path of packed sand past mangroves, sea grapes, and palms. Watch the endless number of fiddler crabs skitter by and enjoy a number of pretty water views.
