Description

Ring in the New Year with a fast mile! Our traditional Frank Shorter mile will kick off your new year and fire up your competitive drive. NEW RACE LOCATION THIS YEAR - Fred Cone Park (2841 East University Avenue)

FREE for current FTC members ( FREE race code can be found here by logging into your FTC account) and kids race is free for anyone; $15 for non-members for the adult 1-mile races. There will be awards for overall men and women. Awards for age group winners in 10-year categories for 1st in each age group. 

$100 in Prize Money for 1st place Male and Female who breaks the current Frank Shorter mile record:

  • Male: Enoch Nadler - 4:20
  • Female: Georganne Watson - 5:17

Kids who want to run/walk the Kids' Mustache run must register, but this is a FREE event for children 12 and under. 

If you want to join the Florida Track Club and participate in the numerous races and track meets planned each year, go to Floridatrackclub.org.  Individual yearly membership is only $30, family membership $40, and student membership $15.  (Hmmm, makes sense to join!!)  For 2023 - 7 free races (all professionally timed), 2 track meets, 3 races with discounts, and a summer social.

Heats by Pace - Approximate Start times:  

  • 12:00 pm Men: 7 min mile or slower

  • 12:10 pm Ladies: 8 min mile or slower 

  • 12:20 pm Men: 6:59 mile or faster

  • 12:30 pm Ladies: 7:59 mile or faster 

  • 12:40 kids 9 and under free Mustache Dash (100 meters)

  • 12:45 pm kids 12 and under free Mustache Dash (1/4 mile)

  • 12:55 The Blue Jeans Mile - Run a mile in blue jeans. (Must bring your own jeans)
