Día de Muertos 5K

A Celebration of Life, Culture & Community

Join us on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Pepper Ranch Campground in Immokalee for the inaugural Día de Muertos 5K.

The Día de Muertos 5K brings together running, community, and the traditions surrounding Día de Muertos — the Day of the Dead.

Set among the natural surroundings of Pepper Ranch, this unique 5K will feature a colorful race-day atmosphere inspired by the music, art, flowers, traditions, and cultural imagery associated with Día de Muertos.

After the race, the celebration continues with music, food, entertainment, photo opportunities, cultural activities, and other Día de Muertos-inspired experiences.

Participants are encouraged to embrace the spirit of the event with colorful attire, floral headpieces, calavera-inspired designs, face paint, and other elements inspired by the holiday.

Celebrating Día de Muertos

Día de Muertos is a tradition centered around honoring, remembering, and celebrating the lives of family members and loved ones who have passed.

Rather than being a somber occasion, the holiday is known for its vibrant colors, marigolds, music, food, decorated calaveras, papel picado, and gatherings that celebrate the lives and memories of those who came before us.

The Día de Muertos 5K will incorporate elements of these traditions throughout the event while creating a celebration that brings together runners, families, and the Immokalee community.

Expect plenty of color, music, cultural touches, and special race-day details that will make this much more than a traditional 5K.

Finish-Line Celebration

Crossing the finish line is only part of the experience.

The post-race area will continue the Día de Muertos celebration with music, food, entertainment, photo opportunities, cultural activities, and additional themed experiences.

More details regarding entertainment, vendors, participant giveaways, and race-day activities will be announced as the event approaches.

Timing & Awards

The Día de Muertos 5K will be professionally chip timed.

5K Overall Awards — Gun Time

Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers:

1st Place | 2nd Place | 3rd Place

5K Age Group Awards — Chip Time

Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in each age group:

0–9 | 10–19 | 20–29 | 30–39 | 40–49 | 50–59 | 60–69 | 70+

Overall awards will be determined by gun time.

Age group awards will be determined by chip time.

Run With a Purpose

The Día de Muertos 5K will also help support an important medical mission serving families in the Dominican Republic.

Donations made through the event will support the medical mission work coordinated by Ricky Garcia, who organizes approximately three trips each year to La Romana, Dominican Republic.

These missions bring physicians, medical professionals, and needed medical supplies from the United States to communities where many individuals and families have limited access to medical and surgical care.

Across these trips, the medical teams help provide nearly 100 surgeries at no cost to patients and their families. For many of those receiving care, these procedures can be life-changing and, in some cases, potentially life-saving.

Donations will help support the work required to bring medical personnel, supplies, and surgical care directly to people who otherwise may not be able to afford the treatment they need.

Participants will have the opportunity to make an additional donation during registration.
