Sunset 5km and Memorable Moments 1 Mile Fun Run

Proceeds from this race benefit Caitlin's Closet.  

This year alone Caitlin's Closet has sponsored over 14 new events that have served diverse parts of the country and addressed unique needs. Prom dresses were shipped to an Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Wedding dresses were sent to Haiti! Caitlin's Closet has reached a donation high of 10,000 dresses valued at $1,000,000! Discovering the depth of needs in the women Caitlin's Closet has served has challenged them to grow further in their mission statement. Now Caitlin’s Closet® is evolving, moving beyond just dresses. They are empowering all ages who are just finding their voice. Caitlin's Closet has developed a strategic plan that will position Caitlin’s Closet® as a Social Enterprise to accelerate the reach and amplify the impact. What started as a way for young women to be included in some of life’s iconic moments, has transformed into a platform where young people can also acquire the skills to define themselves so they are no longer defined by their circumstances.

SHIRTS

All runners registered two weeks prior to the race a guaranteed to receive a race t-shirt of their requested size.   All runners registering within two weeks of the race will receive a shirt as supplies permit.

GOODIE BAGS

All participants will receive a goodie bag with giveaways and vendor/sponsor handouts.

MEDALS

All finishers will receive a race medal

OVERALL AWARDS

Overall Awards will be presented as follows:

Men - 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place
Women - 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place

MASTERS (Over 40)

Men - 1st Place
Women - 1st Place

AGE GROUPS - 5 YEAR INTERVALS

Age group awards will be presented to the top three men and the top three women in the following age groups:
0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 Plus

Runners will only receive one award:  overall, masters, or an age group award.  Placements for awards are based on gun time, not chip time unless otherwise noted.

There will be a team competion as well.   Teams are available in the following divisions:

COED - 20 and under.  A miminum of 5 team members are required with a minimum 2 females.  Teams can have more than 2 females and more than 5 total members however only the top 2 female and top 3 male runners will count in scoring.  If the 3rd through 5th females are faster than the top 3 males, they can count in scoring.  
COED - 21 and over.  A miminum of 5 team members are required with a minimum 2 females.  Teams can have more than 2 females and more than 5 total members however only the top 2 female and top 3 male runners will count in scoring.  If the 3rd through 5th females are faster than the top 3 males, they can count in scoring.  

MALE - 20 and under.  A miminum of 5 team members are required.  Teams may have more than 5 total members however only the top 5 male runners will count in scoring. 
MALE - 21 and over.   A miminum of 5 team members are required.  Teams may have more than 5 total members however only the top 5 male runners will count in scoring. 

FEMALE - 20 and under.  A miminum of 5 team members are required.  Teams may have more than 5 total members however only the top 5 female runners will count in scoring. 
FEMALE - 21 and over.   A miminum of 5 team members are required.  Teams may have more than 5 total members however only the top 5 female runners will count in scoring. 

Scoring will be cross country style, with points being awarded based on order of finish with the lowest score being the top team.  Only the top five places on each team will score and there will not be any displacement for any teams that have more than five finishers.

There is no additional cost to join a team.   During registration you can create a new team and then ask your friends to join your team or join an existing team.   Please note that teams can not be added after July 9, 2015.

The run starts and finishes at Unity Plaza, 220 Riverside Ave.   There will be water stations on the course and at the finish line.

DAY OF RACE EVENT SCHEDULE

90 minutes to 15 minutes prior to the start of the race - Packet, Bib, & Chip Pickup

90 minutes to 30 minutes prior to the start of the race - Day of Race Registration (Cash or Check Only)

20 minutes to 30 minutes after the last finisher - Awards Ceremony

RACE START TIMES

6:30pm - Race 1 - Memorable Moments 1 Mile Fun Run

7:00pm - Race 2 - Sunset 5k Start

DAY OF RACE PACKET PICKUP

Participants may pickup their packets at the race during the times listed on the Event Schedule.

The race will be chip timed using a shoe chip system.   Chips will be distributed at the packet pickup.   All runners must cross the mat at the finish line with their chip properly attached to their shoe to score in the race.  Chips must be returned at the conclusion of the race at the finish line.   Runners not returning chips will be charged a fee of $30.  

Race times and dates are subject to change without notice at any time for any reason. In the event the race time or date is changed or if the race is cancelled, for any reason, there will not be any refunds under any circumstances. In the event of bad weather every effort will be made to conduct the race, however it may be moved to an alernate date, time, or cancelled within hours of the starting time. Please be sure to check the PRS Race Timing website and Facebook page for updates prior to departing to the race for any last minute changes or instructions.
