Description
The Swoop for the Troops 5K 2015 is the inaugural race where all the financial gain will directly benefit the Military Veterans Resource Center. UNF nursing students wanted to make an impact on their community with veterans and military servicemembers being their target. The College of Education and Human Services, specifically Sport Management students, have formed a partnership to raise awareness for the cause. Our military gives us so much, it’s important to give something in return!

Benefitting
All monies earned stay with the center. This center serves the veteran population of UNF as well as the Jacksonville community and surrounding areas. When these service members enter the civilian life, there may be confusion, anxiety, and hesitation on how to start a new chapter. By reaching out to these people, the MVRC hopes to increase the military presence in college, reduce the college dropout rate of military members, improve veteran employment statistics, and decrease the veteran homeless population of our community. Any extra donations would be given 100% (as are all funds) to the MVRC. No financial gain comes to the UNF nursing program or any other entity.

Registration Costs
All online registration fees are included in the amounts below
Early Registration - $27.00 through Feb 28
Regular Registration - $32.00 through March 31
Week of Race Registration - $37.00 through April 11
Day of Race Registration - $42.00 - Cash, check, or charge - 60 minutes to 15 minutes prior to the start of the race
Race Awards
Awards will be given to the top three males and females in the following categories:
Top 3 Male & Female Overall Finishers
Top 1 Masters Finishers
Age Group Finishers (Over 40)
Top Three Age Group Finishers in the following age groups: 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 Plus
Race Amenities
All runners will receive a race t-shirts as well as post race food/snacks.
Water stations will be available for runners.
Race Course
The race will be on UNF’s campus. It will start at the Arena, loop around the heart of the campus, out through the nature drive to lot 18 parking, and then down past the athletic areas to finish at the Arena.

Event Schedule
60 minutes to 15 minutes prior to the start of the race - Bib, Chip, and Packet Pickup
60 minutes to 30 minutes prior to the start of the race - Day of Race Registration Open
30 minutes after last finisher - Awards Ceremony
8:00am - Race Start Time
Packet Pickup & Race Instructions
Runners will pick up their bib and timing chip prior to the race at the check in area.
Parking will be allowed in the garages in the main part of campus, as well as lots 14 and 18.

Chip Timing
The race will be chip timed using a shoe chip system. Chips will be distributed at the packet pickup. All runners must cross the mat at the finish line with their chip properly attached to their shoe to score in the race. Chips must be returned at the conclusion of the race at the finish line. Runners not returning chips will be charged a fee of $30.
